About us

The Red Deer Youth Justice Committee (RDYJC) is a community-based program with deep roots in Red Deer. Established with the support of Red Deer City Council on August 15, 1994, the Committee was formally authorized on October 19, 1994 through a Ministerial Order issued by Ken Rostad, Q.C., then Minister of Justice and Attorney General for the Province of Alberta.

Since that time, RDYJC has been powered by dedicated volunteers and has worked in partnership with the Courts, Crown Prosecutors, Police, and Community Corrections to support youth involved in the justice system.

In 2026, we formally incorporated as the Red Deer Youth Diversion Society (RDYDS) to strengthen governance, sustainability, and our ability to expand community-based programming.

Today, RDYDS continues to deliver restorative, community-based responses to youth offending. Our work focuses on supporting young people to take responsibility, repair harm, and build constructive, responsible lives within their communities.
